VoIP Terms
Here are just a few terms used with VoIP
Bandwidth
The maximum data carrying capacity of a transmission link. For networks, bandwidth is usually expressed in bits per second (bps).
Broadband
A descriptive term for evolving digital technology that provides consumers a single switch facility offering integrated access to voice, high-speed data service, video demand services, and interactive delivery services.
Compression
Compression is used at anywhere from 1:1 to 12:1 ratios in VOIP applications to consume less bandwidth and leave more for data or other voice/fax communications. The voice quality may decrease with increased compression ratios.
Dial-peer hunting
Process when the originating router tries to establish call on different dial peers if the originating router receives a user-busy invalid number or an unassigned-number disconnect cause code from a destination router.
Gateway
In IP telephony, a network device that converts voice and fax calls, in real time, between the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and an IP network. The primary functions of an IP gateway include voice and fax compression/ decompression, packetization, call routing, and control signaling. Additional features may include interfaces to external controllers, such as Gatekeepers or Softswitches, billing systems, and network management systems.
IP Telephony
The transmission of voice and fax phone calls over data networks that uses the Internet Protocol (IP). IP telephony is the result of the transformation of the circuit-switched telephone network to a packet-based network that deploys voice-compression algorithms and flexible and sophisticated transmission techniques, and delivers richer services using only a fraction of traditional digital telephony’s usual bandwidth. Compare with VoIP.

Mobile Home Mortgage Loans
By Al Falaq Arsendatama
A large number of prospective homeowners are interested in acquiring mobile or manufactured homes. Should these homeowners require financial assistance, they will need to take the assistance of approved lenders who make the money available from their own resources as FHA does not lend money for this purpose.
Since these loans are not government funded, they are not low interest loans. The interest rate is fixed based on prevailing market rates. However, since the loan is privately funded, you can take this to mean that mobile home loans are also available to persons with poor credit, albeit at a higher interest rate to compensate for the greater risk involved.Read more »

Secrets to Starting Your Own Photography Business
Starting Your Own Photography Business
If you’ve reached the point where you’re tired of dreaming of starting your own business, and are ready to take action and actually start your own business, congratulations!
My husband and I started our photography business a little over 17 years ago. We were young and thought starting a business was just as easy as buying a few business cards. Our families came from the “job” mentality, so we had no true role models. But we new we could succeed.
After 7 years of trying everything, then choosing a mentor and starting on a true plan to success, we began to see what entrepreneurship is all about. After all those years of struggling, we discovered a successful business owner has three characteristics that distinguish success.
Mentorship. A successful businessperson never goes it alone. She realizes the key to success is to join others that have achieved success, and follow in their footsteps. When trying to create a successful business, reinventing the wheel takes way too long. And with so many people out in the business world willing to share how they got where they are today, why reinvent the wheel!
How do you find a mentor? Look for industry leaders that have made it to the top of your chosen path. Want to photograph weddings? Who do you admire? Love commercial work? Find the best, and follow their patterns. Also find successful business people that can make the most of your time. Find marketing consultants, lawyers, accountants and business coaches that can cut your learning curve and the time you spend on menial tasks down to nothing.
Education. A successful businessperson always looks for educational opportunities. Have you ever heard the phrase:
When you’re green, you’re growing. When you’re ripe you rot.
This phrase speaks to all entrepreneurs very seriously. Over 60,000 books are published every year. Millions of articles are written every year in the thousands of magazines, newspapers and publications published. Information is constantly being updated, changed and reported. Hundreds of training classes are going on all around you every week. There is always an opportunity to take what you know today, and expand on it to create a stronger understanding for tomorrow.
Time. There is no such thing as an overnight success. Your road to becoming an overnight success may take you a year. Or three. Or ten. No matter how fast it comes, it comes when you are ready for it. You learn as things happen, and grow by taking action. Every day is a new opportunity.
Learn.
Read.
Find a mentor.
And wait for success to find you!

Create Something New That Will Sell Like Wildfire
Create Something New That Will Sell Like Wildfire!
Because today's business world is unlike it was even a few short months ago, you need to learn to create new things for people to buy. Things that will attract them, and make them want to purchase today. Market to them based off of today's beliefs. It's a stressing time. How can you make things a little bit easier? What can you provide as a way to relieve the tensions of our lives? How can you work with other businesses and create an opportunity that people will really want (and need) in their lives?
There will always be opportunities. And there will always be sales. Even during the great depression, certain companies were still making profits. And we're a long way off from a great depression! But you still need to let people see the value in what you're offering. How can you add a benefit to the current way of life?
We stopped by a Verizon store today, just to see what plans were available. We have used Verizon's services for years, and we're very happy. After talking with the sales person for 10 minutes, he sold us on 2 new phones and a new plan - we can travel anywhere in the U.S. and talk for "free". A great deal with the amount of traveling we do. And an improvement over our old system. So what was the dealmaker? He gave us a GREAT deal on the new phones because we have been clients for years. Thanks to technology, he could access our record on site, see how long we've been clients, and make an instant decision to give us a great deal to keep us happy. And he made a sale! Pretty good marketing, eh!

Turn Your Hobby Into A Worldwide Success With The Internet
Many people start a home based business, sell to a few family and friends, then close the business down because they lack the one thing they need: new customers. The wonderful thing about the Internet is you have an unlimited supply of “potential customers”. You have the ability to reach out and promote yourself to millions of people all over the world.
Start By Building Your Business Your hobby is your passion, right? You do it because you love it. And if someone buys what you do, all the better.
But what if you could turn your hobby into a full time business that not only supported you, but also provided you with an income that would change your lifestyle? The key is to think about selling before you rent your first booth at the local fair.
Let’s imagine you bake brownies, and after winning several competitions, you know you have one of the best brownie recipes in town. You package them up, and take them to your local holiday fair.
You’ll probably sell quite a few brownies during the fair, but what about the day after? Will people remember you, and have a way of getting a hold of you to order more?If you’ve planned ahead, you’ll be selling your brownies all year long – with the help of the Internet. And it all starts with a website.
Build an Eye-Pleasing WebsiteWhether you tackle design yourself with one of the many template-driven systems online today, or hire a designer to take on a more customized look, the key is to get a website up to help you market your product line.
While there are many things necessary to make an eye catching, professional website, I consider the top 5 characteristics to be as follows.
1. Every site should have a solid, clean, professional look. The look and feel of your site should carry through from one page to the next. Always avoid looking homemade; people have a harder time completing the sale if the site isn’t professional.
2. Your navigation should be easy to understand and easy to maneuver. Make sure your navigation buttons carry through from page to page, and are easily understandable to your visitor. Your ultimate goal is to have your visitor buy – lead them to the order button, and make it an easy process.
3. Have a message that speaks directly to your visitors. Content is king online. A site full of relevant information will always capture the attention of a visitor over a site without. People go to the Internet for information. Give them what they are searching for. No matter what you are selling, creating several pages of information relevant to your product and industry is a must.
4. Impulse shopping is the only way to sell online. Have you ever been to a website, seen something you loved, the price was write, so you decided to buy? When you clicked on the shopping cart, it was easy to input your credit card information, and the sale was completed within a few short minutes. That’s impulse selling. No forms to fill out and fax in. No phone numbers to call in the order the next morning. You instantly buy when the desire is high.
5. Continual marketing allows you to connect with your customers. Your current customers are your best prospects for repeat business. Creating online techniques for continual selling, such as an ezine, allows you to stay in touch with your prospects and customers. This is a necessity for any Internet savvy business.
Forever MarketingThere are two kinds of hobbyists: those that turn it into a business, and those that don’t.
To turn your hobby into a business, you must market to every person that buys your product. You can do that in one of two ways.
First, list your website on everything you create for your business. The labels on your product, your business cards, your brochures, and your advertisements. Everything that comes into contact with your customer should provide a way to create more sales. When they try your product and love it, they need to have a way to get more.
Second, ask your customer to be put onto a mailing list for special promotions. People love deals. They love coupons. And if you promise them a coupon to get a discount – they’ll sign up instantly. And you gained access to market to an existing customer for years to come.
When people visit your website, the vast majority will not make a purchase from you at that time. But if your site provides good quality information, and has a desirable product/service, you will attract attention. Your goal is to capture these people.
Ezines, or electronic newsletters, are one of the best ways of staying in touch with your potential customers.
Ezines also allow you to develop a relationship with your potential customer. Think back to all the sales you’ve made in the past. Most of your sales probably came from people that you had contact with. You met face to face, talked for a few minutes, and established a certain level of trust. Repeat sales came because they trusted you and your product, and felt comfortable doing business with you.
That same process must be built online. Because your potential customer may be several thousand miles from you, the ability to meet in person is difficult. If your customer is half way around the world, even talking on the phone can be next to impossible.
Incorporating special promotions into your email campaigns and ezines allows you to connect in a personal away with each of your prospects. You can continually offer new sizes or product combinations, and provide exposure to your business and products over and over again. No longer do your customers have to visit the fair to purchase your product; they can complete the sale any time of the day from the convenience of their own home.
And that will help you turn your hobby into a profitable business.

Gaining PR
Gaining PR
Did you know your local newspaper and trade publications are always hunting for good information to include in their publications? Did you know it's very easy for you to be included?

Reporters and editors are constantly on the look out for information that their readers will find interesting and informative. They have to create newsworthy stories consistently, over and over again. They look for new ideas that will allow them to provide a top quality publication on a regular basis. If you can provide them with that information, you make their job easier. Start by finding a handful of publications that would benefit you and your business. Your local newspaper, local and national trade publications, and local business publications are a great place to start. Then begin creating story ideas, create and send in press releases, and get stories on a regular basis into the publications.
PR is great because it's a way of getting information in to print, without having to create a marketing budget for it. People love reading stories in print, and they always seen a little more believable if its not straight out advertising. If you read a heartwarming story, aren't you always a little more interested in the company being written about?
If you want more info on PR, check out my recommended sites. I'm on their email list, and always read everything that comes in from these companies.

AlwaysUnder Promise and Over Deliver
Always Under Promise and Over Deliver
Whatever you plan on doing for your customer, never give away your whole strategy.
What is your timeline for service? Double it.
What promises do you make? Make them as generic as possible.
What strategies do you have? Keep them quiet.
Why?
When you tell your customer - anything - they expect it. If you don't deliver, they become unhappy. Yet if your customer has only a vague understanding of what you deliver, your chances of making them happy increase drastically. For example, if you can normally deliver your product in 2 weeks to 90% of your clientele, telling your client 4 weeks will provide you extra time on those few rare exceptions. And it will make those 90% very happy when you deliver 2 weeks early. So happy they will remember you!
